Hi everyone!
Well, Vista certainly didn't get the quiet Sunday morning anyone was expecting.
The Brengle Fire sent families near Brengle Terrace Park from their homes early Sunday as firefighters moved quickly to stop the flames. Thankfully, residents were able to return home later that morning with no injuries or property damage reported.
We spoke with a resident who was there, and she shared what those frightening few hours felt like — along with video and photos from the scene. That's where we're starting this week.

You think you know what Sunday morning is going to look like.
Maybe you're heading to church. Maybe it's brunch, pancakes with the kids or finally sleeping a little later than you did all week.
For residents near Brengle Terrace Park in Vista, Sunday, Sept. 6, didn't go according to plan.
Shortly after 7 a.m., a vegetation fire broke out near the 1200 block of Vale Terrace Drive. The fire threatened nearby structures, sending firefighters into the neighborhood and prompting evacuation orders and warnings. Vista High School was opened as a temporary evacuation point.

If Vista football needed to search a little harder for the good news this week, San Marcos had the opposite problem.
There was plenty to go around.
Mission Hills swept Oceanside across all three levels, with freshman, JV and varsity each putting a win on the board. San Marcos High knocked off previously unbeaten Poway 28-14, while St. Joseph Academy continued its strong start with a 50-26 victory over Cornerstone Christian. Read More... |
Not every football weekend belongs to the varsity scoreboard.
This one certainly didn’t.
Vista High, Rancho Buena Vista and Tri-City Christian all came home from Friday-night road games without the result they wanted. Madison defeated Vista 50-0, San Pasqual topped RBV 31-21, and Hamilton edged Tri-City Christian 28-20.

San Marcos girls flag football finally got a fight.
After rolling through the opening weeks of the season, the Knights faced their closest game yet Wednesday — and still found a way to win.

And yes, you'll see the Mission Vista Timberwolves in the mix this week. Fun local fact: although the school's campus sits just over the city line in Oceanside, Mission Vista is part of Vista Unified School District.
