The Boys & Girls Club of Vista has officially opened the Sahm Family Foundation Community Sports Complex, a $3.5 million facility that welcomed its first athletes in June 2026. The project, funded by a state grant and community support, features a soccer arena, multi-use court for basketball and volleyball, open field, and expanded gathering spaces.

The grand opening  brought together over 100 supporters and community leaders. Beyond sports, the Club continues offering music studios, cooking classes, literacy programs, job training, and STEM activities for holistic youth development.

President Matt Koumaras emphasizes the facility helps level the playing field for all families, ensuring every child can experience athletic participation regardless of economic circumstances. Registration is open for soccer, basketball, volleyball, and pickleball programs.

Sand N' Straw Community Farm in Vista has opened registration for their popular summer camps, offering North County children ages 4-10 an immersive farm experience that combines education, outdoor play, and hands-on learning. The 4-day programs run Tuesday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM, with each week costing $300 per child.

Campers participate in gardening workshops, cooking classes, science exploration, and farm animal interactions. The six-acre regenerative farm produces over 50 varieties of organic fruits and vegetables.

One of the  highlights for many campers is the time spent with farm animals. Children interact with chickens, goats, and other livestock while learning about animal care, feeding routines, and the contributions animals make to a working farm ecosystem. These experiences help foster empathy and understanding of where our food comes from.

Amalfi Marina Bar Turns Lake San Marcos Into a Waterfront Destination

While many North County restaurants focus on food alone,  Amalfi Marina Bar has built its reputation around something harder to find: an experience.

Situated directly on the shores of Lake San Marcos, Amalfi Marina Bar offers one of the region's few true waterfront dining experiences. With expansive lake views, outdoor seating, live entertainment, happy hour specials, and a relaxed atmosphere, the restaurant has become a popular gathering place for residents looking to enjoy a night out without heading to the coast.

The Marina Bar is part of the Amalfi family of restaurants and serves an approachable menu designed for casual lakeside dining. Guests can enjoy everything from burgers and shareable appetizers to cocktails, beer, and weekend brunch while taking in views of the marina and surrounding lake. The restaurant's outdoor setting has become especially popular during the warmer months when sunsets, live music, and community events bring added energy to the waterfront.

One of the biggest draws is the restaurant's ongoing calendar of entertainment and weekly specials. Live music performances, happy hour offerings, Taco Tuesdays, and Sunday brunch have helped transform the venue into more than just a restaurantβ€”it's become a social hub for the Lake San Marcos community.

As San Marcos continues to grow, destinations that combine dining, entertainment, and a sense of place are becoming increasingly important. Amalfi Marina Bar has successfully carved out that niche, offering visitors a chance to slow down, enjoy the waterfront, and experience a side of San Marcos that many newcomers have yet to discover.

For locals searching for a scenic patio, a weekend brunch spot, or a place to catch live music with friends, Amalfi Marina Bar continues to prove that one of North County's most enjoyable dining experiences can be found right on the lake.

Burgeon Beer Expands Its Footprint in Downtown Vista

Downtown Vista's transformation continues to gain momentum, and one of North County's most recognizable craft breweries is preparing to become part of the story.

Burgeon Beer Co., founded in Carlsbad and known throughout Southern California for its award-winning craft beers and commitment to environmental stewardship, is bringing a new taproom experience to Downtown Vista. The expansion marks another significant addition to the city's growing collection of independent restaurants, breweries, and entertainment venues that have helped turn the area into one of North County's most vibrant destinations.

The new location places Burgeon in the heart of Vista's emerging downtown corridor, where visitors can already enjoy live music, public art, local dining, and a thriving craft beverage scene. For many residents, the addition of Burgeon represents another vote of confidence in the city's continued revitalization and growing reputation as a destination for both locals and visitors.

Known for popular beers such as Treevana IPA and a rotating lineup of seasonal releases, Burgeon has built a loyal following by combining high-quality brewing with a strong commitment to conservation and community involvement. The company has long supported environmental initiatives throughout California, helping differentiate the brand from many others in the crowded craft beer market.

The Downtown Vista location is expected to offer a welcoming gathering space where guests can enjoy fresh pours, meet friends before events, and explore the surrounding Arts District. The addition also strengthens Vista's position as one of North County's premier destinations for independently owned breweries and locally driven businesses.

As new investment continues to flow into Downtown Vista, projects like Burgeon's expansion highlight the growing appeal of the area. For residents who have watched the district evolve over the years, the arrival of another respected local brand is further evidence that Vista's downtown renaissance is far from over.

Whether you're a longtime craft beer enthusiast or simply looking for a new place to gather with friends, Burgeon's newest venture promises to bring fresh energy to an already thriving downtown scene.
