Vista’s Newest Trading Floor Has Pokémon—and 35-Plus Taps |

Vista is getting a trading floor.
No neckties. No opening bell. Considerably more Pikachu.
Pokémon Fest takes over The Boochyard on Saturday, September 26, from 3 to 8 p.m. Local Roots Kombucha is producing the event in partnership with North County Gamers.
General admission is free, and the organizers say all ages are welcome.
That means families can enter without buying a ticket. The optional paintbrush, however, has other plans.
Bring Cards—and a Straight Face
The festival lineup includes Pokémon trading tables, local vendors, themed food and drinks, raffles and prizes.
Cosmic Ice Shaved Ice is also scheduled to attend.
Announced vendors include Bean Boys Collects, Cezu Vault, Poke N Chill, Daygo Pokemob and Short King Collectables. The organizers promise additional vendors, although a complete final lineup has not been published.
What are the raffle prizes? What makes the food and drinks Pokémon-themed?

Apparently, an event devoted to mystery creatures is entitled to keep a few mysteries of its own.
The promotional graphic mentions reserving a trading table, but the published information does not clearly explain whether reservations are mandatory.

Here Comes the $38 Plot Twist
A Pokémon-themed Sip & Paint is scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m.
The activity costs $38 per person. Local Roots instructs participants to prepay through the link in its Instagram biography.
The announcement does not identify the provided materials, workshop capacity, refund terms or whether the price includes a beverage.
Translation: Pokémon Fest is free. The painting session is not.

More Than Another Theme Night
The sharper local angle is the group behind those trading tables.
North County Gamers promotes video games, board games, trading-card games, tabletop role-playing games, pinball and other gaming activities around North County San Diego.
It has also brought gaming into Vista gathering places.
In January 2025, the organization partnered with local streamer CzarBQ for an Xbox LAN party and Halo competition at Weir Beer.
Its community work has included Pokémon cards, too.
In 2024, North County Gamers documented a charity trade-up challenge that began with a Pikachu card valued at 20 cents. Through a series of trades, the group obtained a card it valued at $450 for a fundraiser supporting 1Up On Cancer.
Pokémon Fest continues that face-to-face formula.
This time, trading cards and paintbrushes replace controllers.
The Room Behind the Festival
Pokémon Fest will be held at The Boochyard, 1430 Vantage Court, Suite 101, in Vista.
The official venue page describes a 16,000-square-foot space with more than 35 taps, food, arcade games, cornhole, board games, televisions and an event stage.
For local collectors, the sales pitch is refreshingly offline: inspect the card, meet the trader and negotiate without typing, “Is this still available?”

My kids are going to be so excited for this! Free entry is awesome, and they love trading cards. Hope there’s some fun food too.
I like that it’s at The Boochyard. That place has good vibes and plenty of space. The paint session sounds cool but $38 is a bit much for me, wish it was cheaper.
