Doom pioneers hit Progress Street before a three-brewery Zombie Crawl takes over Keystone Way.

Vista’s business-park streets do not look like entertainment districts.
Nobody arrives expecting doom-metal pioneers, roaming zombies or flash tattoos.
October missed that memo.
Pentagram and BL’AST! will perform at Booze Brothers Brewing Co. on Oct. 2. Three weeks later, a Halloween crawl will connect three breweries along Keystone Way.
Different streets.
Different crowds.
Same curious development:
Vista’s breweries are becoming cultural venues that happen to own fermentation tanks.
Doom Comes to Progress Street
Pentagram and BL’AST! are scheduled to perform Friday, Oct. 2, at Booze Brothers’ Vista taproom, 2545 Progress Street.
The ticketed event is listed from 7 to 11 p.m. Doors open at 7, although individual set times have not been published.
The concert is advertised as all ages. Alcohol purchases remain limited to adults 21 and older.
Pentagram formed in Virginia during the early 1970s and is recognized as a pioneer of doom metal. The band spent years in the underground scene before releasing its first full-length album in the 1980s.
BL’AST! supplies the West Coast half of the history lesson.
The Santa Cruz band formed in 1983 and became associated with hardcore punk and SST Records.
This is not another complimentary acoustic set politely competing with the ice machine.
It is a ticketed meeting between two veteran branches of heavy music.

Published prices vary slightly, so buyers should confirm the final total during checkout.
Doom appreciates mystery.

Keystone Way Raises the Dead
On Saturday, Oct. 24, Vista’s October programming becomes considerably less alive.
The Macabre Mysterium is presenting a Zombie Crawl from 4 to 9 p.m., beginning at Weir Beer, 1250 Keystone Way.
The crawl connects Weir Beer, Dogleg Brewing Company and The Lost Abbey. All three are on Keystone Way and within one-half mile of each other, according to the organizer.
Dogleg and The Lost Abbey even share the same street number—1347 Keystone Way—while operating in separate suites.
The event advertises spooky and alternative vendors, roaming undead, live entertainment, flash tattoos, themed photo opportunities and raffles.
Admission is free, and all ages are welcome.
Costumes are encouraged. Beer and vendor purchases are separate.
This is not the ticketed San Diego Zombie Crawl happening in the Gaslamp Quarter that same night.
Same basic zombie problem.
Different outbreak.
Organizers have not published a brewery-by-brewery schedule, final vendor roster, raffle times or drink-special list.
One Street, Three Breweries
The Zombie Crawl is not the only coordinated three-brewery event planned for Keystone Way.
Dogleg is also promoting a Sept. 13 autumn market involving Dogleg, Weir Beer and The Lost Abbey. Its event page advertises more than 30 vendors across the three locations.
Nobody is officially advertising Keystone Way as Vista’s brewery district.
The street is making a decent argument anyway.
Progress Street gets the doom pioneers.
Keystone Way gets the undead.
Vista’s brewery scene does not appear interested in going quietly.

Hope they post a full vendor list for the autumn market soon. Last time a few places sold out fast.
Always cool to see local businesses teaming up for these events. Makes Keystone Way actually fun to visit now!
Anyone know if kids can do the zombie crawl, or is it mostly for adults? My son loves dressing up.
Never thought I'd see Pentagram playing on Progress St! Booze Brothers has really stepped up their game.
