Bobier Drive has been getting plenty of attention lately.
Development. Bike lanes. Traffic improvements. Housing proposals.
And now?
How about a park?
No, we're not suggesting the City of Vista is trying to sweeten the deal for residents watching their neighborhood change.
But the timing does make the joke almost impossible to resist.
“We know there's more development coming... can we interest you in a nice park?”
Okay, Vista didn't actually say that.
What the city is saying is that a new 1.9-acre neighborhood park is coming to East Bobier Drive — and residents are being invited to help decide what goes into it.
First, Let's Clear Up the Homes
There is also a residential project proposed along Bobier Drive, but it is separate from the park.
The project at 552 West Bobier Drive calls for 15 attached single-family homes on approximately 1.67 acres.
The new neighborhood park, meanwhile, is planned for East Bobier Drive.
Different projects. Different properties.
So no, the city isn't officially throwing in a park with the houses like some sort of municipal closing incentive.
Still, Bobier is changing, and residents who have opinions about what those changes should look like now have another opportunity to speak up.
Dinner and a Park Design
Vista is holding a community workshop on Thursday, August 20, at Faith Lutheran Church, 700 E. Bobier Drive.
Dinner starts at 5:30 p.m. on the patio, followed by the workshop at 6 p.m. in the gym.
Residents who RSVP in advance can receive a free Chick-fil-A dinner box.
So technically, the park isn't the bribe.
It's the chicken sandwich.

During the workshop, residents can share ideas, ask questions and provide feedback about what they'd like included in the future park.
With only 1.9 acres available, there's going to be some picking and choosing. Shade trees? Walking paths? Play areas? Benches? Open space?
This is the point in the process when those opinions are actually useful.

Whether you're excited about another neighborhood park or simply watching all the changes happening along Bobier with one eyebrow raised, this is a chance to get involved before the plans are finished.
The city is also asking residents to complete a park-design survey to provide additional feedback.
And if you're going to tell Vista exactly what you think, you might as well do it with a free chicken sandwich in your hand.

I hope they don’t just put in playground stuff. Some benches or a quiet spot for seniors would be great.
Louise G.Benches and a garden area would be so nice! I think a lot of people just want a peaceful place to relax, not just play equipment everywhere.
A small park is better than no park. My dog will appreciate it if they add a few more trash cans.
Wonder if the park will be safe at night. Maybe good lighting should be part of the plan.

Honestly I’m not crazy about more traffic in the neighborhood, but at least we get to say something.
Wish they'd focus on fixing the sidewalks too. That area is tough to walk with a stroller.
