There was plenty happening beyond Friday night football around Vista this week, with the Panthers putting together an impressive field hockey streak, Rancho Buena Vista athletes making noise in multiple sports and Mission Vista celebrating a new school record.

Vista Field Hockey Makes It Four Straight

The Vista Panthers have found quite a rhythm.

Vista has won four consecutive field hockey matches — and remarkably, the Panthers haven't allowed a goal during the streak.

The run includes a 1–0 victory over Patrick Henry, a 1–0 win against El Capitan, a 4–0 victory over Granite Hills and a 7–0 win over Southwest San Diego.

That gives Vista four straight victories, four straight shutouts and a 4–3 overall record.

It's hard to ask for much more from a defense than that.

RBV Flag Football Blanks Oceanside

Rancho Buena Vista girls flag football picked up a 14–0 victory over Oceanside, improving the Longhorns to 3–3 and earning their first league victory.

One of the game's biggest highlights belonged to Violet Xaverius.

A play shared by SD Prep Insider and reposted by RBV athletics credited Xaverius with an 80-yard touchdown, providing one of the week's most explosive Longhorn moments.

The shutout was pretty impressive, too.

RBV Volleyball Finds Success

The Longhorns also had plenty happening on the volleyball court.

RBV went 3–2 during tournament play at Scripps Ranch, collecting victories over Monte Vista, University City and Scripps Ranch. The Longhorns also recently swept Escondido 3–0.

And the younger Longhorns got in on the action.

RBV's freshman team celebrated a 2–1 victory this week, another encouraging sign for the program's future.

Mission Vista Runner Sets New School Mark

Mission Vista had a record-breaking moment of its own.The Timberwolves athletics program announced that Keaton Hawkins ran 15:08 to establish a new school record.

That's the kind of accomplishment that deserves a little extra attention. Cross-country records don't come with roaring crowds or packed bleachers, but they represent months — and often years — of work.

Congratulations to Hawkins on putting his name in the Mission Vista record book.
