Then the empty box appears, and your brain takes a personal day.

San Marcos Library has scheduled a class for that moment.

“Teach Me How: Get to Know Claude AI” runs Sunday, September 27, from 2 to 3 p.m. Instructor Anil Agrawal will introduce Claude and discuss everyday uses for it.

First, a task for an actual human: register. The library requires it.

Vista Was on the Calendar First

The county library listed a class with the same title and instructor at Vista Library on July 18. Now one is scheduled in San Marcos.

The Vista description advertised demonstrations involving everyday questions, emails, document summaries and learning new topics. It also listed tips, limitations and a Q&A.

That was the plan advertised for Vista. We cannot tell how the class went from an event listing, and Sunday’s session may use a different outline.

The connection is still interesting.

A subject that can sound like it belongs at a tech conference has found its way onto library calendars in both cities.

The San Marcos listing describes an introduction to AI and Claude. It mentions everyday uses and setting up Claude Desktop with Free and Pro options.

Its public preview begins a demonstration list, then cuts off. The full agenda is not visible there.

If you want help with one particular task, check with the branch before assuming it is covered.

And “Free and Pro” describes Claude options. The listing does not say you need a paid subscription to attend.

That matters when you are still figuring out whether the tool belongs in your life at all.

The library pitches the hour as a trip from “curious to confident.”

Curious is easy.

Confidence may take a few more tries. Perhaps a password reset. The scheduled class is an introduction, and that is useful on its own.

Claude gives that familiar work a newer subject.

An AI tool can produce an answer quickly. Deciding what to ask, what information to share and whether the answer makes sense still takes thought.

A beginner does not need to master all of that by 3 p.m.

Learning where to begin is enough for one Sunday.
