Vista voters are getting something more useful than a campaign postcard.

No yard sign planted at a traffic corner like it is personally solving potholes.

Just candidates, questions, timers and a room full of voters trying to make a local decision with actual information.

The League of Women Voters of North County San Diego and the Vista Chamber of Commerce are hosting a public candidate forum for Vista mayor and City Council District 4 on Wednesday, September 30, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

The forum is scheduled for the Morris Vance Community Room at the Vista Civic Center, 200 Civic Center Drive, Room 100.

In other words: one room, four candidates, 90 minutes, and hopefully fewer slogans per square foot than the average campaign season allows.

Who Is on the Forum Card

The forum flyer lists two candidates for mayor: Joe Green and Kenneth Zuniga.

It also lists two candidates for City Council District 4: Dan O’Donnell and Josh Davis.

The City of Vista’s election page confirms that the November 3, 2026 General Municipal Election includes the mayor’s seat and City Council seats in Districts 1 and 4.

The city’s candidate information also lists Green and Zuniga for mayor, and O’Donnell and Davis for District 4.

That means the forum is not trying to cover every race under the sun.

It is focused on two Vista races that sit close to home.

Mayor is citywide.

District 4 is district-specific.

So every Vista voter has a reason to pay attention to the mayoral portion, while District 4 voters have an extra chair at the table.

Municipal boundaries: somehow both boring and extremely important.

The Rules Are the Point

The flyer says the forum will be conducted by trained members of the League of Women Voters of North County San Diego, a nonpartisan organization, and the Vista Chamber of Commerce.
