San Marcos athletes gave us plenty to talk about this week.

Both local flag-football programs delivered shutout victories, San Marcos volleyball knocked off The Bishop's School, and Knights field hockey kept Cathedral Catholic off the scoreboard.

Several local flag-football players are also continuing to make their mark among San Diego's statistical leaders.

Mission Hills Blanks Westview

Mission Hills girls flag football delivered one of its most convincing victories of the season Wednesday, shutting out Westview 34–0.

The win improved the Grizzlies to 8–2 and extended their winning streak to three games.

And varsity wasn't alone.

Mission Hills' flag-football program also reported a 20–0 JV victory over Westview, giving the Grizzlies shutouts at both levels.

San Marcos Puts 60 on the Board

The Knights had a dominant flag-football performance of their own.

San Marcos defeated Coastal Academy 60–0 on Sept. 15, producing its highest point total of the season.

The victory moved San Marcos to 11–1 and marked the Knights' fourth consecutive win.

San Marcos continues to sit among the San Diego Section's top flag-football teams.

Local Players Continue Climbing the County Leaderboards

The team success is showing up in the individual numbers too.

On SD Prep Insider's Sept. 15 San Diego girls flag-football leaderboards, Mission Hills quarterback Kensie Del Gatto ranked fourth in passing yards with 2,088 through nine games.

San Marcos quarterback Finlee Hovis appeared eighth with 1,699 passing yards through 10 games.

Mission Hills receiver Catie Kaminski ranked second in receiving yards with 844, while San Marcos' Miyah Holmes ranked fourth with 821.

The scoring leaderboard also included Hovis and Mission Hills freshman Denlia Freeman.

Those rankings are a Sept. 15 snapshot — the numbers will continue changing as games are played — but having athletes from both San Marcos schools appearing across the county lists is worth noticing.

Knights Volleyball Wins Its Third Straight

San Marcos girls volleyball added another quality win Wednesday night.

The Knights defeated The Bishop's School 3–1, taking the match 25–17, 25–23, 21–25 and 26–24.

The victory was San Marcos' third straight and improved the Knights to 14–5.

A Story reposted by the San Marcos volleyball program showed the match ending on a game-point ace — about as satisfying a way to finish a four-set win as you can get.

Field Hockey Shuts Out Cathedral Catholic

San Marcos field hockey joined the shutout club this week too.

The Knights defeated Cathedral Catholic 2–0 on Sept. 15.

The official San Marcos field-hockey account celebrated the varsity victory afterward, giving the Knights another positive result in a week that had plenty of them.

St. Joseph Academy Adds a Volleyball Win

St. Joseph Academy is part of our San Marcos sports coverage too, and the Crusaders have had a recent victory of their own.

The Crusaders girls volleyball team picked up a 3–0 win over Del Lago Academy as it continues through a busy early-season schedule.

St. Joseph enters this weekend with more tournament volleyball ahead, giving the Crusaders another opportunity to add to the win column
