Cherish Night has a shorter itinerary.
Awaken Church’s women’s ministry is holding a Camping Edition of its recurring gathering Wednesday, Sept. 9, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the church’s San Marcos campus.
The address is 1760 Descanso Ave.
The local invitation promises women a night under the stars with worship, community and “all things Cherish.”
That sounds outdoorsy.
Then the details disappear into the woods.
The Campout Without the Sleepover
The official event record does not describe an overnight stay.
It lists a 6:30 p.m. beginning and an 8 p.m. ending.
Ninety minutes.
Long enough for an evening gathering.
Not long enough to regret buying the cheap air mattress.
No published instructions tell San Marcos attendees to bring a tent, sleeping bag, camping chair, blanket or marshmallow stick.
“Camping Edition” is the official theme. What the theme actually includes remains unpublished.
Awaken has not identified the speaker, worship leader, activities, food plans or specific area of the San Marcos property being used. The listing also does not explain what happens if weather interrupts that advertised night beneath the stars.

The announcement does not publish a price or explicitly say the event is free. Registration requirements and childcare arrangements are not listed either.
Those are useful details when inviting women to an evening gathering.
Especially women whose girls are small enough to require snacks, supervision and an occasional search party.
Three Campuses Pitch the Same Tent
The Sept. 9 gathering is not exclusive to San Marcos.
Awaken Church’s calendar lists Cherish Night at its Balboa, El Cajon and San Marcos campuses that evening.
Eastlake holds its Camping Edition one week later, on Sept. 16, also from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Cherish identifies itself as Awaken Church’s women’s ministry. The church describes Cherish Night as a place for women to worship, pray, hear from God and build community with one another.
At the San Marcos campus, the event begins at the same time the church normally advertises its Wednesday services.
Awaken has not explained whether other Wednesday activities will stop, move or continue elsewhere on campus.
Casey and Paige Bombacie are the San Marcos campus pastors. Neither has been announced as a Cherish Night speaker.
The Bigger Camp Comes Later
The theme arrives about three weeks before the Cherish Women’s Conference, a separate event scheduled Oct. 1–3 at Emerge Ranch in Campo.
That gathering involves actual camping options, bonfires, group activities and a multiday schedule.
Cherish has not called the San Marcos night a conference preview or kickoff.
The timing and matching under-the-stars imagery are still difficult to miss.
One event requires accommodation decisions.
The other ends before bedtime.
Awaken Church says it began in San Diego in 2005 and was formerly known as C3 San Diego. It now operates multiple campuses, including its location on Descanso Avenue.

Honestly thought this was going to be a real campout at first! Guess I’ll save my bug spray for October.
I like the idea of an outdoor get-together, but it would be helpful to know if there's childcare or snacks, especially for moms with little ones.
Glad I read this before showing up with a cooler and sleeping bag. Sounds fun, but wish they had more details about what we're actually doing.
