San Marcos is handing out the pencil.

The San Marcos Chamber of Commerce is launching its SM Young Professionals Group and asking the people it hopes to serve to help shape it from the beginning.

The next meeting is Wednesday, Sept. 2, at Union Cowork, 251 North City Drive, Suite 128F, in San Marcos.

The Chamber advertises the meeting from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

And here's the part that widens the door:

You don't have to be a Chamber member.

That makes this more interesting than another morning of handshakes, introductions and business cards quietly reproducing in somebody's pocket.

Come Before the Paint Dries

The Chamber says the new group is about making meaningful connections, growing professionally, getting involved and giving young professionals a voice in the future of San Marcos.

Its invitation includes people starting careers, growing businesses or simply looking to expand their professional networks.

San Marcos isn't merely asking young professionals to join something somebody else already designed.
