Vista’s old Eriberto’s building has a new name on the wall.

And it is not exactly whispering.

A red-and-green Mañanas Mexican Food sign is now up at 901 S. Santa Fe Avenue, the familiar standalone spot locals remember as Eriberto’s Mexican Food — and, further back in the local fast-food memory bank, as Wienerschnitzel.

That address has had range.

Hot dogs. Burritos. Now, apparently, Mañanas.

If buildings could keep a résumé, this one would need a second page.

The Sign Is Up. The Restaurant Is Not.

After the sign surfaced, North Valley Flare checked Mañanas’ public information and did not find a Vista location page, official Vista hours or a posted opening announcement.

Then came the most old-school reporting tool available:

A phone call.

A call to Mañanas’ Ramona location confirmed the Vista restaurant is not open yet. The restaurant also said there have been delays, making an opening before the end of December or beginning of the year unlikely.

So the current status is clearer now: Mañanas appears to be coming to 901 S. Santa Fe Avenue, but Vista’s burrito-watch may need a sweater.

This is not a “go there for lunch today” story.

It is a “the sign is up, the opening is still coming, and the timeline has slipped” story.

Important distinction.

Especially for people who have been personally betrayed by showing up too early to a not-yet-open restaurant.

Online ordering listings still tie Eriberto’s Mexican Food to 901 S. Santa Fe Avenue, while restaurant directory listings also show Wienerschnitzel history at the same address.

Those listings can lag reality, but they do line up with local memory in the post that surfaced the new sign.

And they make the new sign feel less like a random restaurant opening and more like the next chapter for a corner Vista already knows.

Mañanas Mexican Food is not appearing out of nowhere.

The restaurant’s own website lists locations in Ramona and Alpine.

Its online ordering page shows a familiar Southern California Mexican-food lineup, including California burritos, carne asada burritos, bean-and-cheese burritos and other taco-shop staples.

In other words, this does not look like a tiny tasting-menu situation.

This appears to live in the local universe of rolled tacos, breakfast burritos, salsa choices and the eternal North County question:

“Do we want Mexican food?”

Which is usually less of a question and more of a pre-approved decision.

Why People Noticed

New restaurant signs have a special power in Vista.

They turn normal people into menu detectives, soft-opening philosophers and unofficial parking-lot correspondents.

One photo goes up online, and suddenly everyone wants to know whether it is open, whether it has a drive-thru, whether the salsa is good, whether the old place is really gone, and whether anyone has already tried the carne asada fries.

That is not nosiness.

That is local infrastructure.
