Field Notes on Memory Exhibition at California Center for the Arts |
The Museum at the California Center for the Arts presents Field Notes on Memory, featuring 2025-26 Artists-in-Residence |
Three artists will transform museum spaces this summer with installations exploring how memory shapes our understanding of place and identity.
Residency Culmination
The upcoming exhibition represents the culmination of a year-long studio program at the California Center for the Arts. Each participating artist developed site-specific works responding to themes of recollection, landscape, and personal history.
The show brings together diverse approaches to similar questions. One artist investigates migration experiences through architectural forms. Another examines ancestral practices via domestic objects and sound. The third explores displacement through archival materials and earth elements.
Immersive Environments
Rather than traditional paintings or sculptures, visitors will encounter room-sized installations. These environments invite slow looking and physical movement through spaces designed to trigger reflection on individual and collective memory.
The artists drew from family stories, historical records, and cultural traditions to create works that resonate across different backgrounds and experiences.
Visit the Exhibition
The museum galleries open June sixth and remain accessible through mid-August. Admission details and hours are available through the center website.
This presentation offers North County residents a chance to engage with contemporary art addressing universal themes through locally rooted creative practices. |
