Weir Beer Turns Brewing Leftovers Into Bread at a Vista Workshop |
Grainbakers brings its hands-on class November 11. You'll make the dough at the brewery and bake it at home. |

The grain left after a batch of beer usually doesn't get much of a starring role. At Weir Beer in Vista on November 11, it's headed for the bread bowl.
Grainbakers is bringing its Fall Flavors breadmaking class to the taproom from 6:30 to 8 p.m. You don't need baking experience. You do need a ticket and a way to get your dough home.
From Brewery Grain to Homemade Bread
Participants use spent grain from the brewing process to make an artisan bread dough. After a lesson and hands-on mixing session, each person prepares a large loaf in its first rise.
The baking happens at home. The class includes a recipe and instruction guide, plus extra spent grain to freeze for another round.
Fall Flavors With a Personal Twist
There's an inclusions bar for customizing the dough. The organizer lists options such as pumpkin and spice, maple walnut, rosemary and sea salt, and jalapeño with cheddar and bacon.
It's an unusually practical souvenir from a brewery night: a loaf you can actually eat later.
Tickets, Age Rules and Venue Details
