Rancho Buena Vista girls flag football gave Vista sports fans the week's biggest celebration at the Rams Jamboree on Sept. 26.

The Longhorns shut out Mayfair 19-0 and then edged La Mirada 9-7, giving RBV two tournament victories in the same afternoon.

The team's own celebration called the day a championship and highlighted two wins, a tug-of-war title and plenty of memories.

For a program building momentum this fall, two wins in one day made a pretty good statement.

RBV Volleyball Celebrates Whiteout Night

The Rancho Buena Vista volleyball program had another reason to celebrate this week during Whiteout Night.

RBV's freshman team picked up a victory and apparently wasn't finished competing when the match ended—the team's post also celebrated winning the night's dance battle.

Varsity was also shown celebrating a 3-1 victory this week, but complete opponent and match details were not available through the public results sources we checked, so we're keeping the recognition to what the team itself confirmed rather than filling in blanks.

RBV Surf Team Reaches the Finals

Rancho Buena Vista's surf team gave us one of the more unusual additions to this week's roundup.

The team shared a podium photo congratulating several finalists from its recent competition.

Complete official event results were not available through the usual reporting sources, so North Valley Flare is leaving individual placements and divisions out rather than guessing.

Still, seeing Longhorn athletes reaching finals outside the traditional gym-and-stadium sports deserves a mention.

Tri-City Christian Continues a Strong Fall

Tri-City Christian volleyball has also been putting together a strong season.

The Eagles entered this week 11-3 overall and 3-0 in league play, with nine victories in their previous 10 matches.

That makes the Vista private-school program another local team worth following as the fall schedule moves deeper into league competition.

Help Us Find the Next Vista Sports Story

Some of the best local sports moments never make a searchable box score, particularly at the JV and freshman levels or in sports that receive less routine coverage.

Parents, coaches and athletes at Vista High, Rancho Buena Vista, Mission Vista and Tri-City Christian can send North Valley Flare noteworthy wins, records, milestones and performances for future roundups.

Rough one against Westview, but Vista field hockey had three shutouts before that. They'll bounce back.

I was at Whiteout Night. The freshmen had plenty of energy, especially for that dance battle.

That 9-7 win over La Mirada must have been close. Good for the RBV girls!
