Friday night brought three very different outcomes for Vista's high school football teams. Rancho Buena Vista gave its home crowd plenty to celebrate, while Vista High and Tri-City Christian found themselves on the wrong side of decisive scores.

For the Longhorns, though, October 16 was a reminder of what can happen when an offense finds its rhythm.

Rancho Buena Vista: Longhorns Break Through Against Fallbrook

Rancho Buena Vista turned in its highest-scoring performance of the season, defeating Fallbrook 44–19 and improving to 4–4.

Quarterback Van Piercy led the charge, completing 10 of 21 passes for 108 yards and four touchdowns, while adding 33 rushing yards on seven carries and another score on the ground.

At wide receiver, Mason Imoto caught three passes for 57 yards and two touchdowns. Fellow wide receivers Sean Richards and Isaiah Simmons also made their mark: Richards added four receptions for 43 yards and a touchdown, while Simmons recorded three catches for 25 yards and a touchdown.

Running back Ean Perfect contributed 107 rushing yards on 11 carries, giving the Longhorns another productive option offensively. Kicker Jonathan Cruz converted five of six extra-point attempts and connected on a 27-yard field goal.

But head coach Terrence McKinnie pointed to more than individual performances.

“The biggest factor Friday was when our offense started clicking,” McKinnie told North Valley Flare. “The O-line did a good job, and our quarterback took over.”

He also credited his coordinators for the adjustments they made at halftime.

“My coordinators did a good job with adjusting at halftime as well.”

But what impressed McKinnie most was the determination his players showed, something he said has been a constant throughout the season.

“What impressed me the most is how we kept fighting to stay in the game. We've been doing that all season. I'm proud of our guys for not quitting when we are down.”

The victory gives Rancho Buena Vista momentum heading into its October 23 matchup at Westview.

The Rancho Buena Vista junior varsity team also faced Fallbrook, falling 15–7. The Longhorns kept the game within eight points, but couldn't overcome the deficit. A JV game photo will be added when available.

Vista High: Panthers Face Another Difficult Night

Vista High traveled to Westview on Friday, where the Panthers fell 57–0.

The final score reflects a difficult outing for a Vista program still searching for its first victory of the season.

Westview kept the Panthers off the scoreboard, leaving Vista with little opportunity to build offensive momentum.

The Panthers return home October 23 to face Fallbrook, a team coming off its loss to Rancho Buena Vista.

For Vista, that game offers another chance to regroup, compete and give its home supporters something to rally around.

Tri-City Christian: Eagles Fall to O'Farrell

Tri-City Christian also faced a challenging Friday, falling 33–6 to O'Farrell.

The Eagles managed six points but couldn't keep pace with an O'Farrell team that controlled the final scoring margin.

Although the result wasn't what Tri-City Christian supporters hoped for, the Eagles remain part of a busy fall football season across Vista.

Three Schools, Three Stories, One Football Community

The scoreboard doesn't always tell the whole story of a Friday night.

For Rancho Buena Vista, it was a night of offensive production and a coach celebrating his team's persistence. For Vista High and Tri-City Christian, it was another opportunity to compete, learn and prepare for the next challenge.

And across all three programs, families, students and supporters continue showing up for their teams.
