USC Alumni Have Another Reason to Meet on Vista’s Main Street

After advertising North County lunches at Vista Village Pub, the USC Marshall alumni chapter is planning an October 6 happy hour at Prey Brewing.

Networking over lunch sounds simple.

Then noon arrives with three unread emails and a meeting that should have been an email.

The USC Marshall Alumni Association San Diego Chapter has advertised North County luncheons at Vista Village Pub. Its next Vista invitation comes after work: a happy hour at Prey Brewing Company on Tuesday, October 6.

From 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Same downtown street. Different part of the day.

Main Street Gets Another Invitation

The luncheon listing names Vista Village Pub at 224 Main Street. The happy hour listing names Prey Brewing at 110 Main Street.

That is the local thread.

The listings do not establish how many people attended the lunches. They do show the chapter choosing Vista again as a place to bring North County alumni together.

The organizer describes its happy hour as an opportunity to meet fellow Trojans and build professional connections.

The human version is simpler.

Walk in. Say hello. Ask somebody what they do.

You might find a useful connection. You might just enjoy talking to someone whose week also needed a pause.

No one can guarantee the first outcome. The second still sounds like a decent Tuesday.

What Is Free, and What Is Not

The October 6 gathering has no admission charge. Guests pay for their own food and drinks at the bar.

Prey Brewing advertises beer, cocktails and food at its downtown Vista location. Its address is 110 Main Street, Vista, CA 92083.

The chapter asks guests to register through Eventbrite so it can estimate attendance.

The listing says the group plans to meet on an upstairs outdoor patio. It does not give a weather backup or details about access to that space. Anyone who needs those details should check with the organizer before going.

An evening out is easier when you know where the gathering actually is.

A Conversation, Not a Career Guarantee

The event listing does not name a speaker or describe a presentation. It presents the evening as a casual gathering for Trojan alumni.

That leaves the conversation to the people who come.

Perhaps somebody shares a useful introduction. Perhaps the most productive exchange is learning that another USC graduate lives nearby.

Either would be more interesting than collecting another business card that spends the rest of its life in a drawer.

The chapter has advertised Vista lunches and now an evening gathering. That is a modest story, but a useful one for local alumni: the networking address is on Main Street.

You still have to start the conversation.

The 5 p.m. Meetup at Prey Brewing is a lot easier for me than a lunch event. Glad they’re keeping these in downtown Vista.
