San Marcos City Connect Mixer Is October 14: Here's What It Costs |
Meet local business and community leaders at Draft Republic, with advance tickets starting at $25 for Chamber members. |
Another networking event? This one has a little more on the guest list.
The San Marcos Chamber of Commerce is bringing local business owners and community leaders together Wednesday, October 14, at Draft Republic. The City Connect Business Mixer runs from 5 to 7 p.m. at 255 Redel Road.
And before you grab your keys, there's one detail worth knowing: this isn't a free event.
What Makes This Mixer Different?
The Chamber advertises an opportunity to connect with members of San Marcos City Council, city leadership and staff, and representatives of local fire and sheriff services. It's not a formal public hearing.
Think conversations, introductions and a chance to learn who handles what in the community. The Chamber's promotional materials describe invited officials. They don't guarantee any particular person will attend.
Still, for business owners with questions about the city, knowing where to start can be valuable.
Here's the Actual Ticket Price
Advance admission is $25 for Chamber members and $45 for nonmembers, according to the official event listing. Planning to pay at the door? The listed rates rise to $35 for members and $55 for nonmembers.
That's an important distinction. An earlier draft described the event as free. The Chamber's current registration page does not support that claim.
Check availability and purchase details on the official San Marcos Chamber event page before traveling.
What Should You Bring?
A few business cards wouldn't hurt. But a specific question might be even more useful. Maybe you're looking for a referral, wondering how city departments work or hoping to meet other local business owners.
Don't expect a private appointment with an official. Use the evening to make introductions and find out who can point you toward the right resource.
For a question requiring a permit decision or official interpretation, follow up through the city's normal channels.
There's Another Way to Ask City Hall
San Marcos recently launched monthly small-business support office hours with the Chamber. A member of the city's Economic Development team is available on the first Tuesday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon at 251 North City Drive, Suite 128.
No appointment is required, according to the city. The program covers topics such as licensing, signage, zoning, incentives and navigating city processes.
That's a separate resource, not a service included with the mixer ticket. So whether you prefer a room full of conversations or a focused question at office hours, San Marcos businesses have two ways to make a connection.
The Chamber's listing also mentions light bites and a hosted bar. Attendees should check which refreshments are included in admission. For someone new to Chamber events, the evening could also be an introduction to local business organizations and contacts. A brief conversation may be a useful first step, but it isn't a substitute for formal city guidance.
