Room on the Fridge? Vista Has October Art Options for Kids

A paid Monday series and separate free enrichment programs give families creative choices—with different addresses, schedules and costs.

The next refrigerator masterpiece needs somewhere to begin.

Vista has options. Parents just need to match the right program to the right calendar.

The city’s October Kids Art series offers drawing and painting for ages 5–10. Separately, The Kid’s College provides free enrichment programs with City of Vista support.

That second option is worth knowing about. So is the distinction: these programs meet at different locations and have separate registration arrangements.

For Vista and San Marcos families comparing activities, here’s the useful homework before the artwork.

Monday Art at Jim Porter

Kids Art – October is scheduled for Mondays from 3–4 p.m., October 5–26, 2026.

The City of Vista’s listing places the class in the Brengle Terrace Dance Room at Jim Porter Recreation Center, 1200 Vale Terrace Drive.

Drawing and painting are among the advertised activities. The city describes creativity, confidence and self-expression as program aims.

Specific October projects and the instructor’s name were not established in the accessible listing. A Halloween masterpiece might sound seasonally appropriate. It still isn’t a confirmed assignment.

The calendar supplies the month. The instructor supplies the curriculum.

The Price Before the Paint

The city’s general Kids Art page publishes a $59 fee for Vista residents and $69 for others, plus a $5 materials fee.

Those amounts total $64 and $74. However, the October listing directs families to check the price at registration. Its final checkout charge remains unverified.

San Marcos residents comparing costs should start with the published nonresident rate.

With the series scheduled to begin October 5, families should also check available seats and whether joining after the start is possible.

Late enrollment and prorated fees have not been confirmed. A quick check now beats explaining a registration surprise to someone already planning their artistic debut.

Free Enrichment Has Another Address

The Kid’s College’s separate free Vista Kids programs take place at Linda Rhoades Neighborhood Community Center.

That’s 600 N. Santa Fe Avenue, next to Vista Academy of Visual and Performing Arts.

Fall Session I includes Art in the Wild… Critters Around the World, connecting projects with geography, cultures and world regions.

Science Meets Art advertises activities involving light, color and nature, including solar prints, prisms and rainbows.

As of October 5, remaining published dates are October 7 and 14 for Art in the Wild, and October 8 and 15 for Science Meets Art.

Those dates don’t establish that newcomers can still enroll.

A Fresh Round Starts Later This Month

The Kid’s College advertises Fall Session II registration as open, with the session beginning October 20.

Art: World Exploration begins Wednesday, October 21. Our World Through Science and Art begins Thursday, October 22.

Confirm individual ages, times, eligibility and seats. San Marcos resident eligibility remains unverified.
