Eagles score 46 in a league win, RBV pushes Mira Mesa to the final margin, and Vista varsity gets back into the end zone |
Friday night finally gave Vista-area football a victory to put at the top of the page, and Tri-City Christian made sure it was a convincing one.
The Eagles rolled past Victory Christian Academy 46–22, while Rancho Buena Vista stayed within four points of a strong Mira Mesa team and Vista High put 12 points on the board after a difficult stretch.
Tri-City Christian Puts 46 on the Board
Tri-City Christian delivered the Vista area's win of the night, beating Victory Christian Academy 46–22 at home.
The victory moved the Eagles to 4–2 overall and 1–1 in league play, giving TCC a strong response after its September 18 loss to Foothills Christian.
It was also Tri-City Christian's highest-scoring performance of the season so far, a welcome offensive burst as the Eagles move deeper into league play.
A 24-point winning margin gave the Eagles more than a narrow escape. With two league games now behind them, this result provides a positive starting point for the next stretch of their schedule.
TCC gets a week away from game action before traveling to O'Farrell Charter on October 16.
RBV Pushes Mira Mesa to the Finish |
Rancho Buena Vista opened its new stadium Friday night with a game that kept the home crowd invested to the finish. The Longhorns battled Mira Mesa to a four-point margin, coming up just short, 21–17, on a milestone night for the program.
The Longhorns trailed 21–14 at halftime, then held Mira Mesa scoreless in the second half while closing the gap to four.
That second-half defensive response is worth highlighting alongside the offensive numbers. Mira Mesa entered the break with a seven-point lead, but RBV kept the game within reach by preventing any further scoring.
Van Piercy completed 13 of 25 passes for 182 yards and a touchdown and added 47 rushing yards on five carries.
Kaipo Gutierrez carried 16 times for 51 yards and a touchdown, while Ean Perfect finished with 70 yards on 12 carries.
Through the air, Mason Imoto caught three passes for 54 yards and a touchdown, and Sean Richards added three receptions for 67 yards.
The freshman Longhorns supplied the win for the program this week, beating Mira Mesa 25–8 to improve to 4–2, according to Coach Savage.
RBV varsity is now 3–4 and has an open week before hosting Fallbrook on October 16.
Vista Varsity Gets Back on the Scoreboard |
Vista High celebrated homecoming at Dick Haines Stadium on Friday night. The Panthers fell 35–12 to Hilltop, but after the varsity Panthers endured multiple scoreless nights this season, getting two touchdowns' worth of points on the board matters.
The result does not erase a difficult season, but it gives Vista something tangible to carry forward as the Panthers keep working for their first varsity win.
Homecoming also gives this result its own place in the Panthers' season. The scoreboard still tells a tough story, but Vista's 12 points offer a concrete positive to recognize alongside the work ahead.
Vista's JV team also found the end zone in a 21–6 loss to Hilltop.
