Beetlejuice JR. Takes Over Moonlight Amphitheatre in Vista This October

Young performers bring the musical to life across two October weekends, with a special connection to Vista students.

Something strange is coming to Vista this October.

And it's taking center stage at Moonlight Amphitheatre.

Moonlight Youth Theatre is bringing Beetlejuice JR. to the outdoor stage, with public performances listed for October 9–11 and October 15–17, 2026.

That means local audiences have more than one chance to catch the young cast in action.

A Familiar Story With a Youth-Theatre Twist

Inspired by the offbeat world of Beetlejuice, the junior musical puts young performers at the center of the action.

Expect a story full of eccentric characters, theatrical surprises and a little mischief.

The JR. version is adapted for younger performers. It's also a chance to see what local students can do when they're given a professional-style stage and a production to make their own.

And at Moonlight Amphitheatre, the setting is part of the experience.

The Work You Don't See From Your Seat

A great show isn't just about who sings the loudest.

Someone has to manage props, track cues, help with costumes and keep the action moving backstage.

Moonlight Youth Theatre's internship opportunities introduce students to roles such as stage management, lighting, sound and costume work.

For a student who loves theatre but doesn't dream of a leading role, that can be a doorway into an entirely different creative world.

The audience sees the performance.

The students learn what it takes to build one.

A Special Night That Supports Vista Students

The October run also has a community connection.

Vista Education Foundation scheduled its Night at the Moonlight fundraiser for Thursday, October 8, featuring a special Beetlejuice JR. performance.

That event is separate from the public performance dates.

The foundation supports student scholarships and school programs across Vista Unified. Its previously reported work includes college scholarships and support for Vista High School's marching band.

Those examples illustrate the foundation's mission, not a specific promise about how proceeds from the October 8 event will be spent.

It's one more way the production connects young people, local arts and education.

When Can You See Beetlejuice JR. in Vista?

Public performances are listed for October 9–11 and October 15–17 at Moonlight Amphitheatre, 1250 Vale Terrace Drive, Vista.

Because showtimes, ticket categories and remaining seats can change, check Moonlight Youth Theatre's official ticket information before making plans.

Don't confuse public-performance admission with the separate foundation fundraiser's advertised dinner-and-show packages.

If you're planning an evening out, confirm your chosen performance date and arrival time before heading to the amphitheatre.

Why This One Is Worth Watching

Local youth theatre gives students an opportunity to practice, collaborate and perform for their own community.

For families in Vista and San Marcos, it's also an opportunity to cheer on young talent close to home.

And with performances spread across two weekends, there's more flexibility to fit a show into the calendar.

My daughter loved seeing shows at Moonlight when she was younger. Nice that there's a $20 show-only option for families who want to see Beetlejuice JR.

Beetlejuice at Moonlight sounds fun. October nights can get chilly there, so I'm bringing a jacket.

The Vista Education Foundation has done good work for students, but I'd like to know where the fundraiser proceeds will go before buying the $100 dinner ticket.

Glad Moonlight Youth Theatre gives students a chance to work with sound, costumes and props. Those backstage skills deserve some applause too.

Good to know the October 8 fundraiser is separate. I was wondering why that date wasn't with the public shows.

Love that students can learn lighting and costumes too. Not every theatre kid wants to be onstage.
