Thinking About Girl Scouts? Start at Double Peak on November 3
A free hour in San Marcos to ask about troops, volunteering and getting started—plus an activity for girls.

If Girl Scouts has come up at home, here's a chance to find out what joining actually involves. No uniform required to ask questions.

Girl Scouts San Diego is holding a free information night at Double Peak School in San Marcos on Tuesday, November 3, from 6 to 7 p.m. Girls and adults are welcome.

A Little Curiosity Goes a Long Way

The group will meet in multipurpose room B124 at 111 San Elijo Road. It's a one-hour gathering, and admission is free.

You'll hear how to join a troop or help start one. Families can meet other local families, and girls will have an activity while the adults get their questions answered.

The event information is available in English and Spanish. Children under 18 need to attend with a parent or legal guardian.

What Happens Beyond the Uniform?

Yes, there are cookies. But Girl Scouts also involves friendships, practical skills and activities that have nothing to do with selling a box of Thin Mints.

Parents can ask which troops are available nearby and what happens when a troop needs more members or adult volunteers. Girl Scouts San Diego says five girls and two adults are needed to get a new troop meeting.

Interested in volunteering? You don't need previous scouting experience. The council says it provides training and support.

The San Marcos Details

The organizer's Eventbrite page has free registration for Tuesday, November 3, 6–7 p.m., at Double Peak School, 111 San Elijo Road.

For questions in English, Dani can be reached at 619-610-0793 by call or text. For questions in Spanish, contact Claudia at 619-297-5196.

The information night is free, but joining Girl Scouts is a separate expense. Girl Scouts San Diego lists 2027 annual membership dues at $65 for girls and $30 for adults, with financial assistance for eligible new members while funds are available.

You can ask about costs and troop openings at the meeting. Nobody expects you to arrive with a troop organized already.
