More Than 4,000 Graduate as CSUSM Celebrates Class of 2026 |
More than half of Cal State San Marcos Class of 2026 became the first in their families to earn a bachelors degree |
Over four thousand students crossed the stage at Cal State San Marcos this spring, marking a significant milestone for the university and the region.
Breaking Barriers
More than half of this graduating class achieved something their parents did not. These first-generation college students earned bachelor degrees, opening doors to opportunities previously out of reach for their families.
The diversity of the class reflects the community the university serves. Over forty percent of graduates come from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
Weekend Ceremonies
Five separate commencement events spread across two days at the campus track and field facility. This format allowed graduates to celebrate with their specific colleges while keeping ceremonies intimate enough for families to witness the moment.
University leadership emphasized the responsibility that comes with education. Speakers challenged graduates to use their knowledge to address societal challenges and promote equity in their future careers.
Regional Impact
These new alumni join over seventy-five thousand others who earned degrees from the institution. Many remain in North County, contributing to the local workforce and community leadership.
The class of 2026 represents both individual achievement and collective progress toward broader educational access in the region. |
